Meeting Kevin at Animal Kingdom is one of the most entertaining character encounters at Disney. The colorful, towering bird roams Discovery Island, delighting guests as she wanders the park.
Kevin—named by Russell in Disney and Pixar’s film UP—is a female bird often associated with the mythical “Snipe.” Her eccentric behavior and bright plumage make her a memorable part of the Animal Kingdom experience.
Where can you meet Kevin?
Kevin can usually be spotted walking around Discovery Island daily between roughly 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. She typically appears in short bursts, remaining visible for about 15 minutes at a time and reappearing every 30 minutes or so.
She doesn’t have a fixed meet-and-greet location or a formal queue. Instead, Kevin roams the island, so keep an eye out for her colorful feathers and the crowd she draws. At around 12 feet tall, she’s hard to miss when she’s nearby.
Can I take a picture with Kevin?
Yes—you can photograph Kevin, but keep in mind she usually keeps moving. Because there’s no stationary photo spot, your best chance for a clear shot is to position yourself along her path and take a selfie as she passes by.
If you want a better photo, watch her movements for a few minutes to predict her route, and be ready to step in front of her when she pauses briefly for interaction. Being patient and polite will often result in fun, spontaneous photos.
