Stock & Barrel Dallas Review: What to Expect at the Uptown Burger Spot

Every so often a business meeting places me near one of my favorite Dallas lunch spots. A few months ago I found myself close to the Bishop Arts District and tried to stop into Stock and Barrel for lunch, only to learn they open for dinner on weekdays. I was disappointed then, but returned recently with a friend for Sunday brunch — and it was well worth the wait.

With several enticing options on the menu, we asked our server for guidance. He helped narrow our choices to two dishes we decided to share.

Fried Spicy Spaghetti with Wagyu meatballs and eggs

I chose the Fried Spicy Spaghetti, which comes with Wagyu meatballs, pan-fried spaghetti, charred tomatoes and two fried eggs on top. The heat is noticeable but balanced, and the preparation makes the dish stand out — the noodles are soaked overnight in a spicy sauce, then fried the next day for a crisp, flavorful texture. It was one of the most unique and satisfying dishes I’ve had in a while.

Wood Grilled Wagyu Meatloaf with gravy and hash

My friend ordered the Wood Grilled Wagyu Meatloaf, and I found myself impressed again. I’m usually particular about meatloaf — I prefer my own or my mom’s — but Stock and Barrel’s version is in a league of its own. Served with gravy, an onion-and-potato hash, and topped with fried eggs, it elevates classic comfort food into something exceptional. If my dining companion doesn’t pick it next time, it will definitely be my choice.

Restaurant interior or patio

Stock and Barrel bills itself as a modern American wood-fire grill under the direction of Chef Jon Stevens. The aim is for the restaurant to become a Bishop Arts District mainstay — and after our visit, that seems very likely. The space offers roughly 2,800 square feet of indoor seating, a dog-friendly patio, and an open kitchen with counter seats for guests who enjoy watching the chefs at work.

Service hours include dinner Tuesday through Sunday, with brunch available on Saturday and Sunday.
